[TTT] Zehn Lieblingszitate

Hier also einige meiner Lieblings-Buchzitate.

1. "Still she did not blench: maiden of the Rohirrim, child of kings, slender but as a steel blade, fair yet terrible. A swift stroke she dealt, skilled and deadly."

2. "I stood still, vision blurring, and in that moment, I heard my heart break. It was a small, clean sound, like the snapping of a flower's stem."

3. "And I pray one prayer –I repeat it till my tongue stiffens– ___ may you not rest as long as I am living! you said I killed you –haunt me, then!
The murdered DO haunt their murderers, I believe. I know that ghosts HAVE wandered on earth.  Be with me always –take any form– drive me mad! Only DO not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you!"

4. "When I was going to try to stand that first time Mary kept saying to herself as fast as she could 'You can do it! You can do it!' and I did. I had to try myself at the same time of course, but her magic helped me"

5. At dusk the hunter took his prey
 The lark his freedom never

All birds and men are sure to die
But songs may live for ever.

6. "I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun."

7. "So we can´t do this? We really can´t?" It´s phrased as a question but I see by the stricken look on her face that she already knows the answer.

Shaking my head slowly, I swallow hard and turn to look out of the kitchen window to hide the tears in my eyes. The sky is on fire and the night has ended.

8. "He looks like anybody you see on the street. But when he grins, birds fall dead off telephone lines. He´s always outside. He came out of time. He doesn´t know himself. He has the name of a thousand demons. Jesus knocked him into a herd of pigs once. His name is legion. He´s afraid of us. We´re inside. He knows magic. He can call the wolves and live in the crows. He´s the king of nowhere. But he´s afraid of us. He´s afraid of... nowhere"

9. Not my daughter, you bitch!" (!!!)

10. "Well, she was less than an hour old and Tom was God knows where. [...] They told me it was a girl and so I turned my head away and wept. 'All right,' I said, 'I´m glad it´s a girl. And I hope, she´ll be a fool - that´s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.'"

[Lieblingszitate/ Favorite quotes] Eclipse

"If you ever bring her back damaged again - and I don´t care whose fault it is; I don´t care if she merely trips, or if a meteor falls out of the sky and hits her head - if you return her to me in less then the perfect condition I left her in, you will be running with three legs. Do you understand that, mongrel?"

“She is mine. I didn’t say I would fight fair.”

“Does my being half-naked bother you?”

“He’s playing every bit as hard as I am, only he knows what he’s doing and I don’t. Don’t blame me because he’s a better manipulator than I am — I haven’t been around long enough to learn all his tricks.”

“He’s like a drug for you, Bella. I see that you can’t live without him now. It’s too late. But I would have been healthier for you. Not a drug; I would have been the air, the sun.”

“The clouds I can handle. But I can’t fight with an eclipse.”

"Would you like me to help you sleep, Jacob?"

"I really wish you were not forcing me to say to say this out loud Dad. Really. But.. I am a... virgin. And I have no immediate plans to change that status."

"Fall down again, Bella?"
"No Emmett, I punched a werewolf in the face."

Jakob was curled up, his eyes already closed. He yawned.
"I didn´t say it wasn´t the best night I ever spent. Just that I didn´t get a lot of sleep. [...]"
"I´m glad you enjoyed yourself." Edward murmured.
Jacob´s dark eyes fluttered open. "Didn´t you have a nice night, then?" he asked, smug.
"Did it make the top ten?" Jacob asked with perverse enjoyment.
"Possibly."
Jacob smiled and closed his eyes.
"But" Edward went on, "if I had been able to take your place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life. Dream about that."
Jacob´s eyes opened in a glare, he sat up stiffly.
"You know what`I think it´s too crowded in here."

Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice.
From what I´ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice,
I think that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
(Gedicht von Robert Frost, aus dem Vorwort. Love it.)

"All our attempts at subterfuge had been in vain. With ice in my heart I watched him prepare to defend me."

Wie gesagt nicht mein Lieblingsband. It´s getting cheesy. Meine Top 5 least favorite quotes:

Platz 5: "I love him. Not because he´s beautiful or because he is rich. I´d much rather he weren´t either one. It would even out the gap between us just a little - because he´d still be the most loving and unselfish and brilliant and decent person I´ve ever met. Of course I love him."

Platz 4: " What did it mean, that I didn´t want him to stop? That my hands clung to his shoulders and liked that they were wide and  strong? That his hands pulled me too tight angainst his body and yet it was not tight enough for me?"

Platz 3: "I´ll never forgive myself for leaving you. Not if I live a hundred thousand years."

Platz 2: "I had no right to want you - but I reached out and took you anyway. And now look what´s become of you. Trying to seduce a vampire."

Platz 1: "I´ll be back so soon, you won´t have time to miss me. Look after my heart - I´ve left it with you!"

[Lieblingszitate/Favorite Quotes] Seelen

"How did anyone survive in this world, with these bodies, whose memories wouldn´t stay in the past where they should?"

"He grinned that huge, cheek-stretching grin and I couldn´t help grinning back, though my smile was more rueful than delighted. He was supposed to be my enemy. He was probably insane. And he was my friend. Not that we wouldn´t kill me if things turned out that way, but he wouldn´t like doing it. With humans, what more could you ask for?"

"I pushed up on my toes and pulled his head down at the same time until I could reach his lips with mine. This wouldn´t have worked with another species. Another mind wouldn´t have been so easily overwhelmed by it´s body. Other species had their priorities in better order, but he was human and his body responded."

"I thought of thos burning kisses in the hall... thought of other kisses and other nights in my memory. My face warmed as I blushed.
You fight dirty.
You bet I do.
I´m not giving up."

"A surge of relief floods through me as I race forward. There is a way. No way to survive, but perhaps a way to win. 'Please!' The shouts are more desperate. I feel like laughing when I know that I am fast enough. [... ]
I hear the thud before I feel it... the wind is gone...
And then pain is everywhere. Pain is everything.
Make it stop.
Not high enough, I wisper to myself through the pain."

"I held you in my hand, Wanderer. And you were so beautiful."

"When body my good
bright dog is dead

How will it be
to lie in the sky
without roof or door
and wind for an eye

with cloud for a shift
how will I hide?"
(Gedicht aus dem Vorwort von May Swenson)

"I´d like the chance to speak to Wanda privately if you don´t mind. Is there any chance, that could be arranged?"
Of all the nerve! You tell him I said no chance in hell! I do not like this man.
My nose wrinkled up.
"What did she say?"
"She said no."

[Lieblingszitate/ Favorite quotes] Matilda

"You must have dyed you hair Dad," the son said. "It´s the same colour as Mum´s, only much dirtier looking."
"Of course he´s dyed it!" the mother cried. "It can´t change colour all by itself! What on earth were you trying to do, make yourself look handsome or something? You look like someone´s grandmother gone wrong!"

"School teachers suffer a good deal from having to listen to this sort of twaddle from proud parents, but they ussually get their own back when the time comes to write the end-of-term reports. If I were a teacher I would cook up some real scorchers for the children of doting parents. [...] A particularly posionous little girl might sting me into saying: 'Fiona has the same glacial beauty as an iceberg. But unlike the iceberg, she has absolutely nothing below the surface.' I think I might enjoy writing end-of-term reports for the stinkers in my class.

An epicure dining at crewe
Found a rather large mouse in his stew.
Cried the waiter 'Don´t shout
And wave it about
Or the rest will be wanting one too

"You have put a... a... a crocodile in my drinking water!" the Trunchball yelled back. "There is no worse crime in the world against a headmistress!"

"You chose books and I chose looks", Mrs. Wormwood said. "And who´s finishing better off? Me, of course. I´m sitting pretty in a nice house with a sucessful businessman and you´re left slaving away teaching a lot of nasty little children the ABC:"
"Quite right, sugar-plum," Mr. Wormwood said, casting a look of such simpering sloppiness at his wife, it would have made a cat sick.

"We may be small, but we´re quite tough!"

"Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy, it´s unbelievable!"

"Spell what you idiot. Spell the word "what"!
"W...O...T." Eric siad, answering to quickly.
There was a nasty silence.
"You were wrong!" the trunchball barked. "In fact you strike me as the sort of poisonous little pockmark that will always be wrong! You sit wrong! You look wrong! You speak wrong! You are wrong all round!"

"You can rely on us", Lavender said, making her height of three feet two inches stretch as tall as possible.
"No, I can´t." Hortensia said."You´re only shrimps. But you never know. We may find a use for you one day in some undercover job."

Matilda decided that every time her father or her mother was beastly to her, she would get her own bak in one way or another. A small victory would help her to tolerate their idiocies and would stop her from going crazy. You must remeber, that she was still hardly five years old and it is not easy for somebody as small as that to score points at an all-powerful grown-up. Even though, she was determined to have a go.
